The story of a worldwide flood is told in Genesis 7 & 8, it is also told of by people with thousands of years of history being passed down from generation to generation, namely the American Indians and the Aborigines.

Evolutionists do not believe in a worldwide flood because if they did it would throw off their age of the earth and geologic column ages. They say that it is impossible for those events to have occurred as described in Genesis 6-8. If all life were destroyed there wouldn’t have been ample time for evolution to occur.

Was the ark big enough? Is it possible for God to have gotten all of the animals we see today on the ark?

Dr. Howard Osgood, in The Sunday School Times on Feb. 6, 1892, discusses whether every species of animals, as they are now classified by naturalists, could have found enough room in the ark. The highest estimate of the number of species of land mammals is 290 above the size of a sheep, 757 from the size of sheep to rats, and 1,359 of the rats, bats, and shrews. The average size is that of a common cat. Allowing 5 square feet of deck room as amply sufficient for a cat, two of each species of mammals could find room on two-thirds of one deck of the ark, with its 33,750 square feet of surface. The 10,000 species of birds, 979 reptiles, 1252 lizards, and 100,000 insects could easily be placed on the remaining one third of the deck. This would leave the other 2 decks for food and Noah’s family.

What evidence is their today to support the Biblical global flood?

To answer this question we need to first look at the geologic column.  There is this idea in science that there is this “ideal” column of rock that has formed over billions of years. We here all the time of carbon dating on the TV when people find really old artifacts and fossils. Seventy five percent of the earth’s continental surface is made up of sedimentary rock, this is rock that has been laid down by water. This sedimentary rock is the type of rock in which almost all fossils are found. Radioactive dating techniques can only be performed on igneous rock. Fossils are rarely dated using radioactive carbon dating, but fossils may be used to date rocks. This dating is based upon the fossils and the fossils must be as old as the rock, so that is how old the rock is. This dating technique is based on the guess that that particular fossil is an early life form.

Fossils are formed quickly, evolutionists agree on the issue that the best way to form fossils is in a flood. The vast fossil beds are evidence of this. Polystrate trees are evidence of this; misplaced fossils are evidence of this. One fossil bed in Africa contains hundreds of billions of fossils. If these sedimentary rocks were laid down slowly, the plants and animals would have rotted instead they fossilized. Fossils are formed by catastrophic events.

The Grand Canyon is evidence of a global flood. Evolutionists say that the deep meandering channel was cut by the Colorado River over millions of years as the land rose. This is contrary to the principles of hydrodynamics, according to these principles; water cannot meander at the same time it cuts a deeper channel. A better explanation that would follow the physical laws of hydrodynamics and the patterns of erosion as we see them on the earth today would state that the grand Canyon was formed rapidly as water cut through loose sedimentary rock that had been deposited by a global flood. This explanation agrees with what is seen by scientists and engineers who study erosion today.

The quick frozen mammoths, in Siberia, are another evidence of the global flood. Evolutionists will tell you of an ice age that occurred several million years ago. They will explain that the polar ice caps slowly increased in size until a large portion of the earth was covered with ice. The flood would have brought on tremendous climate change to the earth, almost instantly. I do not fully comprehend all of how this climate change happened, but many sources I have researched all conclude the flood would have done it extremely fast.  Now these mammoths that were quick-frozen still had buttercups and over 1,000 other species in their stomachs, undigested.

This may sound insignificant but according to the Birds-eye Frozen Food Company, (experts in quick freezing meat). It would take a wind chill moving at 200 to 400 miles per hour constantly over a 4 to 8 hour period. With a temperature of minus 175 degrees F. That is what it would take to freeze a happy, 9 ton grazing mammoth so quickly that we could get undigested food from their stomachs.  This was no slowly creeping ice age. This was something that went from warm to extremely cold quickly.

There are also fossilized palm trees found in the ice in Alaska today. Trees that would not tolerate the cold temperatures that we see there today.

The flood is spoken of in New Testament teaching. Its validity is not questioned; Jesus speaks about it in Matt. 24: 38-39.
